The International Day of Refugees

Image
Today, in our Don Orione Center in Zarqa -. Jordan, we celebrated the International Refugee Day, we had lunch with our families of Iraqi refugees who live here in our center and others we give food and gas assistance, today Fr. Hani celebrated the Mass in the Syriac rite of Chaldean Catholic Church. Observing these families came to my mind so many families who could not escape their countries at war or who, unfortunately, died in the way. Thank God that these families have been saved and that we with the least we can do for them to survive until the day they can be received by a country. Here are the pictures of these beautiful children who have survived of terror and the war and who can continue their lives with joy and smiling even though they are far way from their origin country.

They are on the right of the Appian Way, after the church of "Quo Vadis?". The catacombs of St. Callixtus are among the greatest and most important of Rome. They originated about the middle of the second century and are part of a cemeterial complex which occupies an area of 90 acres, with a network of galleries about 12 miles long, in four levels, more than twenty meters deep. In it were buried tens of martyrs, 16 popes and very many Christians. They are named after the deacon Callixtus who, at the beginning of the third century, was appointed by pope Zephyrinus as the administrator of the cemetery and so the catacombs of St. Callixtus became th...
